Rather, the principle maintains that a plaintiff must be wronged — must be treated carelessly or otherwise wrongfully by the defendant — in order to recover. Plaintiff unforeseeability is simply one sort of factor that precludes a defendant from treating the plaintiff carelessly, from breaching a duty to be careful toward her.
